International first! Chinese scientists achieve fractional quantum anomalous Hall state of photons

Recently, the team of Academician Pan Jianwei from the University of Science and Technology of China, using a "bottom-up" quantum simulation method, realized the fractional quantum anomalous Hall state of photons for the first time in the world, providing a new path for efficiently conducting more and newer quantum state research, and helping to promote the "second quantum revolution."

The fractional quantum anomalous Hall effect has attracted much attention in the academic community, and materials in the fractional quantum anomalous Hall state have important observational research value. The team's realization of the fractional quantum anomalous Hall state of photons provides a high-quality research platform for conducting relevant research in the quantum field, without the need for harsh experimental conditions such as extremely strong external magnetic fields, and can achieve comprehensive measurement and controllable utilization of the microscopic properties of highly integrated metrological subsystems.

Nobel Prize winner in Physics Frank Wilczek commented that this research is an important step towards quantum information processing based on anyons.
