On July 11, the results of the 64th International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO) held in Chiba Prefecture, Japan in 2023 were announced. The Chinese team won the first place in the team for five consecutive years.

The medal list shows that all 6 players representing China won gold medals.

Wang Chunji, a member of the 64th IMO China National Team and a student of Shanghai Middle School in Shanghai.

Members of the 64th IMO China National Team include students Wang Chunji and Sun Qiao from Shanghai Middle School in Shanghai, Shi Haojia from Hailiang Senior Middle School in Zhuji City, Zhejiang Province, Jiang Zhicheng from Shenzhen Middle School in Shenzhen City, Guangdong Province, and students from the Middle School Affiliated to Hunan Normal University in Changsha City, Hunan Province Liang Xingjian and Zhang Xinliang, a student from Zhenhai Middle School in Ningbo City, Zhejiang Province.

According to the WeChat official account of Shanghai Middle School in Shanghai, since 2000, the students of the school have won 16 gold medals in the International Mathematical Olympiad.

There are a total of 6 questions in this competition, each with 7 points, and the full score is 42 points. Players with a total score greater than or equal to 32 will be awarded a gold medal.

The results released by the contest showed that two members of the Chinese team got a full score of 42 points, two members scored 41 points, one member scored 39 points, and one member scored 35 points. The six members of the Chinese team scored a total of 240 points.

The results of the competition show that in the International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO) in 2023, the United States, South Korea, Romania, Canada, Japan, Vietnam, India, and Taiwan of China won the second to tenth places respectively.

Six members of the U.S. team won 5 gold medals and 1 silver medal, with one player scoring 42 points, one player scoring 41 points, two players scoring 37 points, one player scoring 35 points, and one player scoring 30 points. The six members of the US team scored a total of 222 points.

The International Mathematical Olympiad is a world champion mathematics competition for high school students, held in a different country every year . The first IMO was held in Romania in 1959, with seven countries participating, and then gradually expanded to more than 100 countries and regions on five continents. In 2023, IMO will be held in Chiba Prefecture, Japan, in 2024 it will be held in Bath, UK, in 2025 it will be held in Australia, and in 2026 the 67th IMO will come to China and be held in Shanghai.
