On March 2, BYD and DJI jointly launched an intelligent vehicle-mounted drone system named "Lingyuan" in Shenzhen, making BYD the world's first automaker to mass-produce vehicle-mounted drones.
“The cooperation between BYD and DJI is not as simple as putting a drone on a car. Instead, we started from the underlying technology, designed and developed a whole vehicle integration system from 0 to 1, and successfully achieved a deep integration of cars and drones, ultimately achieving an effect of 1+1>2,” said Wang Chuanfu, chairman and president of BYD Group, at the press conference.
It is reported that the name "Lingyuan" represents BYD's intelligent vehicle-mounted drone system, which has both eagle-like vision and agile and intelligent characteristics.
"Lingyuan" realizes the whole vehicle integration of car and drone, and will cover all brands of BYD.
Among them, the "Lingyuan" battery-swap version is mainly installed on the Yangwang brand, and the "Lingyuan" fast-charging version is mainly installed on BYD Dynasty, Ocean, Tengzhong, and Fangchengbao. The full set of fast-charging versions is priced at 16,000 yuan.
At the press conference, the Fangcheng Leopard 8 drone version, which was first equipped with the "Lingyuan" fast-charging version, was officially launched. The entire Leopard 8 series can be equipped with an optional intelligent vehicle-mounted drone system, with a price range of 395,800-423,800 yuan.
In the past, if users wanted to capture beautiful moments during travel, they had to carry a lot of equipment; organizing and post-editing a large amount of material was also a headache. However, Lingyuan will easily solve these problems.
According to Yang Dongsheng, senior vice president of BYD Group and director of the Automotive New Technology Research Institute, the "Lingyuan" uses the world's first vehicle-mounted retractable apron solution, integrating multiple hardware such as vehicle-mounted drone positioning module, 4K high-definition roof camera, and customized dual-mode handle. It can not only achieve dynamic take-off and landing, one-key return to the cabin, and follow-up shooting, but also realize storage and fast charging. The 30 sets of shooting templates and intelligent algorithms allow users to take pictures with one click without too much operation.
With the release of Lingyuan, it is expected that the intelligent vehicle-mounted drone system will gradually move from a niche function to a mass standard. BYD's strong industrial capabilities will also promote the industrialization and large-scale development of the intelligent vehicle-mounted drone system.
