The comprehensive extreme conditions experimental device, a major national scientific and technological infrastructure, passed the national acceptance on February 26. This device can create extreme experimental conditions such as extremely low temperature, ultra-high pressure, strong magnetic field, and ultra-fast light field, which will provide strong support for basic research in fields such as material science.
Extreme conditions such as extremely low temperatures, ultra-high pressures, and strong magnetic fields are powerful tools for driving major scientific discoveries. Under these extreme conditions, the properties of matter are regulated, which is conducive to discovering new phenomena and studying new laws of matter, and can better carry out cutting-edge research such as high-temperature superconductivity and quantum computing.
The comprehensive extreme conditions experimental device is located in Beijing Huairou Science City. It was approved by the National Development and Reform Commission. The Institute of Physics of the Chinese Academy of Sciences is the legal entity and Jilin University is a co-construction unit. Its performance indicators have reached the international advanced level and it is expected to become an important platform for international scientific and technological exchanges and cooperation in the future.
