The 9th meeting of the 10th National Committee of the China Association for Science and Technology was held in Beijing from February 17 to 18. Reporters learned from the meeting that 17 international science and technology organizations have been established in China in the past three years, and more than 2,000 experts from the China Association for Science and Technology system serve in international organizations.

The China Association for Science and Technology has organized and mobilized scientific and technological workers to work hard. In 2024, more than 6,000 grassroots organizations such as enterprise (park) science and technology associations were newly established. It took the lead in implementing the Action Plan for Excellence in Science and Technology Journals, and supported nearly 300 journals to enter the first-class ranks in the past five years. The number of journals ranked in the top 5% of the discipline in terms of international influence has increased sixfold, and 450 journals will be included in the support for the second phase of construction. It has vigorously supported young talents and supported 3,226 outstanding doctoral students from "double first-class" universities.

We enriched the supply of high-quality science popularization. We built and used 1,127 science and technology museums, 749 mobile science and technology museums, 1,418 science popularization caravans and other key positions, receiving nearly 150 million visitors throughout the year.

In addition, the China Association for Science and Technology issued warnings to nine societies and revoked their group memberships. At the same time, it cleaned up and standardized evaluation and commendation, reformed the way academic conferences and science and technology competitions were held, and vigorously reduced activities that had no substantive meaning. Compared with five years ago, the number of evaluation and commendation items has been reduced from 21 to the current three, and the number of forums hosted and co-hosted has been reduced from 63 to 10.

The meeting also reviewed and voted on the "Outline of the China Association for Science and Technology 2035 Action Plan", proposing eight major projects and 21 key initiatives, including the organizational cohesion project, ideological soul-building project, talent support project, academic gathering project, industry-university integration project, science popularization promotion project, think tank brainstorming project, and open cooperation project.
