New breakthrough! China's "artificial sun" sets a world record of "100 million degrees per thousand seconds"

On January 20, China's Experimental Superconducting Tokamak (EAST), known as the "artificial sun", set a new world record in Hefei, Anhui, completing "high-quality combustion" at 100 million degrees Celsius for 1,000 seconds for the first time. This marks a major leap in my country's fusion energy research from basic science to engineering practice, and is of great significance to mankind's accelerated realization of fusion power generation.

EAST is shaped like a "giant tank", integrating cutting-edge technologies such as "ultra-high temperature", "ultra-low temperature", "ultra-high vacuum", "ultra-strong magnetic field" and "ultra-large current". Nearly one million parts work together and it has nearly 2,000 patents. Over the past decade, EAST has undergone more than 150,000 experiments and finally achieved the operation of long-pulsed high-confined mode plasma at "billions of degrees and thousands of seconds", reaching a new scientific peak.
