On November 23, Fudan University’s School of Public Health and the Zhongwei Public Welfare Health Technology Assessment Research Institute held a signing ceremony for the "AI Health Technology Assessment Research Fund Donation" at the Kangquan Library on Fudan University's Fenglin campus.
Professor Chen Yingyao, Deputy Dean of the School of Public Health, expressed gratitude to the donors in his speech.
He stated that with the rapid advancement of artificial intelligence and big data technology, AI health technology assessment systems show tremendous potential in enhancing assessment efficiency and facilitating the application of assessment evidence in evidence-based decision-making. He hopes that through our joint efforts, we can further optimize the quality review system for AI health technology assessment reports, promote the application of AI technology in health technology assessment, and provide more precise and efficient decision support for healthcare policy-making and clinical practice, ultimately improving the scientific validity of decisions.
"Health technology assessment is a comprehensive policy research method that systematically evaluates the impact of health technologies." An article published in 2014 in "Chinese Health Policy Research" titled "Progress and Recommendations in the Application of Health Technology Assessment at Home and Abroad" stated: Health Technology Assessment (HTA) is a systematic research method for assessing the short-term and long-term social effects of healthcare technology applications. The assessment includes the safety, effectiveness, costs, benefits/effects, and social impacts (including political, legal, ethical, and moral aspects) of health technologies.
According to the official website of the National Health Commission, the First China Health Technology Assessment Conference was held in Beijing on October 26, 2018. Wang Hesheng, then Deputy Director of the National Health Commission, attended the conference and delivered a speech.
The second China Health Technology Assessment Conference was held in Beijing from October 26 to 27, 2019, organized by the Health Development Research Center of the National Health Commission and the National Center for Comprehensive Assessment of Drugs and Health Technologies.
The National Health Commission's Key Laboratory for Health Technology Assessment (Fudan University) is the earliest established health technology assessment institution in China, covering disciplines such as social medicine and health management, epidemiology, and health statistics, affiliated with the School of Public Health at Fudan University.
From December 1 to 3, 2023, the 16th China Health Technology Assessment Forum will be hosted by the Medical Technology Assessment Research Center of Fudan University, the National Health Commission's Key Laboratory for Health Technology Assessment (Fudan University), and the China Medical Biotechnology Association in Shanghai, with support from Fudan University's Center for Pharmacoeconomics Research and Evaluation, the School of Public Health at Fudan University, and the Health Technology Assessment Committee of the China Medical Biotechnology Association.
