On December 15, the "China Science and Technology Talent Development Report (2022)" (hereinafter referred to as the "Report") was released in Beijing.
The report shows that my country's full-time equivalent of R&D personnel has increased from 3.247 million person-years in 2012 to 6.354 million person-years in 2022, ranking first in the world. The "Report" is the fifth publication of this series of reports. The Ministry of Science and Technology organizes its preparation and publication every two years. The "Report" points out that in recent years, while the scale of scientific and technological talents in our country has been continuously expanding, it has also focused on optimizing the structure of the scientific and technological talent team, creating a diversified and multi-level talent team, and accelerating the construction of strategic scientists and scientific and technological leaders with clear positioning, enhanced efficiency, and reasonable levels. Talents and innovative teams, young scientific and technological talents and outstanding engineers are all strategic talents. Data show that there are more than 2.5 million graduates in science, engineering, agriculture and medicine in our country. Not only is there a rich reserve of scientific and technological talent resources, but the international academic influence of top scientific and technological talents continues to increase. More and more Chinese scientists are moving to the center of the international academic stage. The number of people selected as the world's most cited scientists has increased from 111 in 2014 to 1,169 in 2022. , ranked second in the world. More outstanding young scientific and technological talents are playing leading roles in major national scientific and technological tasks. More than 80% of the participants in national key R&D programs are scientific researchers under the age of 45.
