On June 21, 2023, Beijing time, the international academic journal "Nature" published online an important achievement made by China Tianyan FAST. The research team discovered a binary star system named PSR J1953+1844 (M71E) using the Chinese Sky Eye FAST. Its orbital period is only 53 minutes, which is the pulsar binary system with the shortest orbital period discovered so far. The discovery fills in a missing link in models of the evolution of spider-like pulsar systems.

The reviewer of the "Nature" journal commented: This result has discovered a very interesting pulsar binary star system; this discovery shortens the record of the shortest orbital period of the pulsar binary star system by about 30%, which indicates that there is a new phenomenon in the evolution of spider pulsars unknown process.
