

On the afternoon of June 19, local time, at the UNESCO Headquarters in Paris, France, Fu Qiaomei, a researcher at the Institute of Vertebrate Paleontology and Paleoanthropology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, was awarded the UNESCO Alforzan Outstanding Award in the fields of science, technology, engineering and mathematics. Young Scientist International Award (referred to as the "Ale Fozan Award"), in recognition of his important original work on the construction of the genetic history of early populations in Eurasia through ancient genomes, bringing new insights into human health and adaptation from an evolutionary perspective .
This award is the first international award established by UNESCO to promote the work of young scientists in the fields of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) since 2021. Every two years Awarded to five youth laureates.
