Among the award-winning projects led by universities, there are 3 special prizes, accounting for 75% of the special awards; 64 first prizes, accounting for 65% of the first prizes. Research institutes led 49 awards, accounting for 19% of all award-winning projects.

Among the award-winning projects of the 2022 Shanghai Science and Technology Award, 182 projects were awarded by enterprises as the lead unit or cooperative unit, accounting for 60% of all award-winning projects. Enterprises as the leading unit won 88 awards, accounting for 29%. All this shows that the main role of enterprises in innovation has been significantly enhanced.
In addition, for Shanghai's three leading industries - biomedicine, integrated circuits, and artificial intelligence, the 2022 Shanghai Science and Technology Award review team has added a key industry innovation team.
