The Association of World's Leading Scientists and Shanghai Jiaotong University Announce Proposal: Jointly Establishing Asia-Pacific Cooperation

    · "Asia-Pacific Future Science and Technology Development 2022 Shanghai Initiative": Actively promote scientific and technological innovation to benefit the people of Asia-Pacific; work together to establish an open-connected partnership; vigorously support the growth of young scientists.

On November 5, at the World's Leading Scientists (WLA) Asia-Pacific Future Technology and Technology Development Forum held in Shanghai, the World's Leading Scientists Association and Shanghai Jiaotong University issued three proposals to scientists.

"The outstanding innovation of science and technology will promote the sustainable development of mankind. As one of the most dynamic and interconnected regional economies in the world, the Asia-Pacific region can promote economic and social recovery and high-quality, Sustainable development is related to the future of the world." The "2022 Shanghai Initiative for Future Science and Technology Development in the Asia-Pacific Region" wrote, and put forward three proposals:

First, actively promote technological innovation to benefit the people of the Asia-Pacific region. Innovation is the first driving force for development. Scientists should be committed to cultivating new drivers of economic and social development through basic scientific discoveries and technological innovations, accelerating the recovery of economic and social development in regions affected by the COVID-19 epidemic, and enabling Asia-Pacific people and future generations to share scientific and technological achievements.

Second, work together to build an open-connected partnership. Science and technology cooperation among Asia-Pacific countries needs to be "open" to opportunities and "connected" in all dimensions. Scientists should be committed to building solid trust in the Asia-Pacific community with a shared future to better withstand global crises, move forward in mutual trust and interaction, and achieve win-win cooperation.

Third, vigorously support the growth of young scientists. Future progress will surely be accomplished by generations of youth. Senior scientists, shouldering the social responsibility of nurturing "future masters" with "masters" - should be committed to supporting young talents through teaching inheritance, cooperative projects, international exchanges, etc., inspiring their love for science, and honing their fearlessness The tough tenacity tempered their feelings of improving human well-being.

"We firmly believe that the joint efforts of scientists and open connectivity with all walks of life will better promote the construction of an open, dynamic and resilient Asia-Pacific community with a shared future," the proposal concluded.

The Asia-Pacific Future Technology and Technology Development Forum is hosted by the World's Leading Scientists Association, the China Association for Science and Technology, and jointly hosted by Shanghai Jiaotong University. The theme of the conference is: Scientific and technological innovation is an important way to promote openness and synergy, enhance transnational, cross-border and cross-connectivity, achieve high-quality economic and social development, sustainable and balanced development, form a joint force to address the common challenges of mankind, and achieve prosperity and development in the Asia-Pacific and other regions. In the face of great changes unseen in a century, technology is a key variable in the great changes.
