    American vascular biologist Zou Minghui's 15 papers have been withdrawn: pictures repeatedly falsified data

    The 14 papers that have been retracted previously are:

    1. On June 28, 2021, the international academic journal "Diabetes" published a retraction note online, stating that the University of Oklahoma Health Science Center requested the retraction of a paper by Minghui Zou as the corresponding author. The reason is that, after investigation by the center, many western blot images in the papers involved were forged.

    2. On September 25, 2020, Circulation, an international academic journal in the field of cardiovascular disease sponsored by the American College of Cardiology, published a retraction note online, stating that the author voluntarily requested to withdraw a paper, mainly because the Several Western blot images have been questioned for suspected image reuse and inappropriate modification; the editorial department asked the authors to provide relevant raw data, but they provided only some of the data. Although the first author admits that the data has been improperly altered, he stands by his experimental results. Out of an abundance of caution, the authors retract the paper.

Several images in the paper were suspected of being reused and were questioned. The authors claim that this is partly due to error. The authors stand by the data and conclusions in the paper.

    6. On August 9, 2019, the international academic journal "Journal of Biochemistry" (JBC) published a retraction note online stating that the named authors retracted a paper. Several images in this paper are suspected of being reused.

    The title of the paper is "Activation of the AMP-activated protein kinase by the anti-diabetic drug metformin in vivo. Role of mitochondrial reactive nitrogen" species), published online July 19, 2004.

On January 25, 2021, the international academic journal "Journal of Molecular Endocrinology" published a retraction note online saying that at the request of the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center, the journal retracted a paper. The University of Oklahoma Health Science Center's investigation determined that Dr. Jun Zhou, the first author of the paper involved, deliberately forged multiple western blot images; a number of data were seriously falsified, rendering the scientific findings and conclusions of the paper invalid.

    According to the retraction note, the journal editorial department was informed of the challenge in June 2019 and failed to resolve the issue after contacting the named author. In July 2019, the journal editorial department asked the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center to investigate the incident. The latter launched a covert investigation, which concluded in November 2020 that the manuscript should be retracted. On December 7, 2020, the journal editorial department received a retraction request from the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center.

    14. On May 19, 2020, the international academic journal "PLOS ONE" (PLOS ONE) published a retraction statement online saying that multiple images in a paper were suspected of being reused and were questioned. The authors claim that part of the original data was lost. They provided data from a partial replication of the experiment, but they were still unable to address the above questions. The editorial board of the journal decided to withdraw the paper. The named author Yong Wu disagrees with the retraction of the paper. Ping Song and Ming-Hui Zou agreed to retract the paper. Yunzhou Dong did not respond effectively.
